Transitionals

Summer to Fall, church to brunch.. it always helps to have outfits in your closet that can transition you from one thing to the next without bringing 12 changes of clothes or sweating half of your face off by 1 o’clock.

With Fall looks quickly approaching and settling in the stores but the relentless Summer heat just hangin’ around, it can put you in a pickle when trying to coordinate an outfit.

Enter: transitional pieces:

  • Lightweight cardigans or sweaters in colors that are light but trendy for Fall (think dusty pink, light grey, light taupe, muted blues, etc.)
  • Peep-toe booties
  • Sweater tanks
  • Simple and neutral dresses or skirts
  • Thinner ankle or slightly cropped pants/denim
  • Denim jackets
  • Chambray shirts

… and the list continues!

These items are also quite useful for different occasions during the same day where you may need to be a little more conservative at one location but can lose a layer afterward.

Some of my favorite places to find great transitional pieces are Nordstrom, Express, and Macy’s. Many times these pieces can also double as great neutrals to wear at any time of the year, which means getting more use for your money! What are some of your favorite transitional items?

Black on Black

Today I headed out to try on MY wedding dress that came in, instead of the original sample! It fits like a dream and needs very minor adjustments! I am so ecstatic to share my wedding dress and whole experience in this blog! Just a few short months left!

I was also fortunate to meet up with a really amazing friend; we always have the best talks and it’s like our souls just “get” each other. I’m coming to appreciate that more and more the older I get- I would rather have a few “soul” friends than a bunch of acquaintances. This one always makes me realize how lucky I am to be able to surround myself with such a positive presence- and really that goes for all of my closest friends!
